DNDi’s 3rd Partners’ Meeting in collaboration with Indian
Council of Medical Research (ICMR)

December 3, 2010, New Delhi, India
Like last year in Nairobi, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi)
brought together more than 150 Indian and international health researchers,
policy makers, experts from 22 countries on December 3rd, at the Constitutional Club
in New Delhi for the 3rd International Partners meeting organized by DNDi in
collaboration with Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), to stimulate greater
regional research partnership to fight the most neglected diseases such as Kala-azar
sleeping sickness, malaria and Chagas disease.

DNDi Intellectual Property Workshop
December 4, 2010, New Delhi, India

In collaboration with partners from the Program on Global health
and Technology Access of Duke University, DNDi organized a workshop
on intellectual property and open innovation on 4th December 2010 in
New Delhi, India. The workshop gathered around 50 participants including
DNDi partners, representatives of Indian civil society and DNDi staff.

ASTMH 2010 – Atlanta, USA
The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) will participate in several activities at
ASTMH 2010, including a joint symposium with Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI)
on Visheral Leishmaniasis (VL) in the Indian Continent, a second symposium on VL in East Africa,
a satellite symposium on Challenges and Successes of the FACT Project through Innovative
Partnerships for the development of Artesunate Combination Therapies for Malaria, as well as
several oral presentations.

ICOPA 2010 – Melbourne, Australia
The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) participated in several activities at the
XIIth International Congress of Parasitology (ICOPA) 2010: the organisation of two symposia,
 (on Malaria and on Drug Discovery), as well as a preview of the documentary "1$ for 1 life".

"1$ for 1 life" documentary on ARTE
2 days before Malaria Day, ARTE channel broadcast this documentary on malaria,
neglected diseases, and DNDi (French and German versions). A documentary by the
filmmaker Frédéric Laffont.

[February 22, 2010]
Congressional Malaria & NTD Caucus Briefing – Washington DC
In the US, the Obama Administration releases its 2011 budget asking Congress to approve
$155M for the treatment of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), a $90M increase over 2010. 
DNDi and MSF are calling for the inclusion of deadly NTDs, such as HAT, VL, and Chagas
disease and to include R&D for urgently needed new tools including drugs to replace outdated,
toxic, expensive, and ineffective ones. On February 22nd, DNDi, MSF, and RTI hold a briefing
on Capitol Hill to inform policymakers of this deadly neglect and the opportunities to save
the lives of neglected people suffering from these diseases.

COHRED & NEPAD Meeting: Strengthening Pharmaceutical
Innovation in Africa – Pretoria, South Africa

The meeting addressed the problems and challenges faced by African countries in
their quest to increase access to medicines and research for innovative products,
and to stimulate production of medicines in Africa. DNDi presented the background
need for strengthened regulatory capacity in Africa in the Plenary session, and also held
 a Regulatory workshop. DNDi and the George Institute took advantage  of this meeting
 to launch their joint report: "Registering New Drugs: The African context".
