[Closing date: 15 September 2019]

The State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) is a leading research and teaching institution in Latin America, and the Institute of Chemistry (IQ) has a world-class team of professors and researchers working on numerous fields of chemistry. The research group led by Dr Luiz Carlos Dias has been working in collaboration with the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) on the development of efficacious, safe, and affordable new drugs for the treatment of neglected tropical diseases.

Purpose of the position

We seek a medicinal chemist to join a drug discovery consortium in Brazil working on the development of new treatments for leishmaniasis and Chagas disease. The selected researcher will be linked to and develop the project at the Institute of Chemistry of the State University of Campinas (IQ/UNICAMP), under the supervision of Dr Luiz Carlos Dias.

Specific responsibilities

The selected researcher will be responsible for the (1) design of target molecules and synthetic routes to those targets, working on series provided by DNDi, and (2) carry out the synthesis in the laboratory.
