François Bompart, Director of HIV & Hepatitis C Initiative, DNDi
François Bompart joined DNDi as Director of HIV & Hepatitis C Initiative in January 2018.
Prior to joining DNDi, François Bompart, MD, was Vice President, Access to Medicines at Sanofi. This department manages Sanofi’s activities in the fight against major public health issues that affect developing countries, in the fields of malaria, tuberculosis, sleeping sickness, epilepsy, and mental health. Since 2006, he has been extensively involved in the partnerships established between Sanofi and DNDi that led to the development of ASAQ Winthrop for malaria and fexinidazole for Human African Trypanosomiasis.
Before joining Sanofi Access to Medicines, he held several positions at Sanofi Pasteur in global medical affairs in vaccine-preventable diseases and at Rhône Poulenc Rorer in the clinical development of antibiotics.
He chaired, from 2012 to 2016, the Global Health Working Group of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA). He has also developed an interest in ethical issues related with clinical research in resource-limited countries and in vulnerable populations.
François Bompart received his MD from the University of Angers (France) and trained in Clinical Pharmacology at University College London (UK) and Hôpital Cochin in Paris.
