Eric Stobbaerts, International Development & Coordination Director, DNDi
Eric Stobbaerts joined DNDi in March 2009 as Policy & Advocacy Coordinator of the Chagas Campaign on the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the disease. He became the Regional Executive Director in January 2010 for six years until January 2016. Under his leadership, Eric successfully developed the scope of the regional office, contributing to widening the impact of research and advocacy through effective partnerships in the field of neglected diseases in Latin America.
He is now advising DNDi on its international development together with the global team and specifically with the Regional Offices.
In the last 20 years, Eric worked with Médecins Sans Frontières as a Coordinator and a Head of Mission in several contexts (Lebanon, Afghanistan-Pakistan, Iraq, former Yugoslavia, Indonesia, Egypt and the MENA region). In 1998, he took over the executive direction of MSF in Spain, one of the five Operational Centres of MSF until 2004. From 2004 onwards, he consulted for various NGOs in London and more recently headed the delegate office of MSF in Brazil. Eric has an MBA from the University of Geneva after completing studies in Economics and Public Affairs at the University of Louvain.
